Site inventory version 1.0

Thanks to the stellar work of our colleagues (especially Ted Coulombe) and our student assistants (Nelson Harris and Bradley McGraw), we now have a near-complete inventory of Web sites on Bates’ multiple public Web servers. Now that we have received permission to lead the effort to renovate Bates’ official Web sites, we are working on three parallel tracks.

First, some content is clearly abandoned, and we will be requesting access to a large number of directories to take immediate action.

Second, one of our primary goals for the Web Hub platform is that it should be much easier to use than current software. Once the content platform is deployed, we want to make “Do-It-Yourself” official migration possible as quickly as possible.

Third, there are a number of “signature” sites for which OCMR will require “Done-For-You” support, from start to finish. I’ve delivered the basic list of sites to Bryan McNulty for triage to determine which sites and microsites will be produced first.

Stay tuned for the next leg in the Race to the Hub.
